Pragati Trust
The Pragati Public Charitable was set up in 1995, through which we have been operating a clinic, free of charge, for those who cannot afford proper healthcare. The trust bears consultation & medicine costs of over 25,000 registered patients. Additionally, it has tie-ups with reputed hospitals to get concessional rates to surgery patients.
Education
We sponsor 10 teachers every year at Teach For India. The initiative was founded in 2008 to partner with various agencies and craft a comprehensive and inclusive education blueprint for all children. Today, they are a movement of 1,000 Fellows teaching 34,000 children and 4000+ alumni who are reaching 50 million children across India. Find out more at teachforindia.org‍

Where it all started
Pragati was started by Mr. Paruchuri Hanumantha Rao in 1962. His sons, Narendra and Mahendra soon joined the business. They started bringing in new technologies, putting the company on the path to becoming one of the largest pack & print companies in India.
1979
Phototypesetting machine introduced.
Phototypesetting machine introduced.
The introduction of AM Varityper Phototypesetting Machine changed paradigm from hand-setting of lead type to computerized typesetting. It was the first such machine in South India – Improving efficiency and providing a spurt of growth to the company.
1985
Purchase of first 4-colour printing machine
Purchase of first 4-colour printing machine
First 4-colour machine purchased from Miller, Germany, followed by the first fully computer-controlled 5-colour machine in India (from Komori, Japan) in 1988. Started Pragati’s growth from a local company to a pan-India organisation.
1991
Pragati wins most awards at AIFMP
Pragati wins most awards at AIFMP
Pragati wins big at the All-India Federation of Master Printers Awards 1991. Winning the most awards of the evening, Pragati is also adjudged the Best in India.

Pragati honoured by the President of India
Pragati honoured by the President of India
Pragati is honoured with the National Award for Excellence for 1992-93. The honour is bestowed by the Honourable President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma at Rashtrapathi Bhavan, New Delhi.
1996
Move to new facility
Move to new facility
Pragati moves to a larger 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Red Hills. With the additional space, the company also introduces new technologies such as Spot UV Varnishing which extend the range of Pragati’s services to a significant degree.

Venture into Packaging
Venture into Packaging
Pragati Pack established in 2000 to serve burgeoning packaging market. Initial products were cartons and blister-packs – later expanded to labels and rigid boxes in 2007. Pragati also wins its first SAPPI Asian Printer of the Year award in 2000.
2006
First International Printer of the Year award
First International Printer of the Year award
Pragati wins the SAPPI International Printer of the Year award for the first time in 2006, a feat repeated in 2008 and 2010. It marks the first time that a printer outside North America and Europe has won this award.
2010
Expansion of Packaging unit
Expansion of Packaging unit
The Balanagar unit is expanded to a 150,000 sq. ft. building. It is followed a few years later by doubling the area of the Offset printing unit in Red Hills to 80,000 sq. ft by leasing adjacent plot of land.
2016
New Rigid Box unit in established
New Rigid Box unit in established
A new unit with 300,000 sq. ft. area started in Raviryala (On Outer Ring Road, a 15-minute drive from Hyderabad airport). Rigid box and pharma leaflet production units are shifted to the new facility to streamline processes.

First manufacturing unit outside Hyderabad
First manufacturing unit outside Hyderabad
The Noida unit is set up for production of rigid boxes, mainly to cater to the mobile phone and electronics industry.

1962

Where it all started

Pragati was started by Mr. Paruchuri Hanumantha Rao in 1962 with an investment of Rs.6000/-. A genial man, Mr. Hanumantha Rao’s simple philosophy of “Is the customer happy?” continues to stand the company in good stead. His sons, Narendra and Mahendra, joined the business in 1978 and 1981 respectively, and started bringing in new technologies, which took the company on the path to becoming one of the largest print companies in India.

1979

Phototypesetting machine introduced.

The introduction of AM Varityper phototypesetting machine changed paradigm from hand-setting of lead type to computerized typesetting. It was the first such machine in South India – bringing a spurt of growth to the company.

1985

Purchase of first 4-colour printing machine

Started Pragati’s growth from local Hyderabad company to one serving a pan-India customer base – starting with advertising agencies from Bombay.

Pragati wins most awards at AIFMP

Pragati wins big at the All India Federation of Master Printers Awards 1991. It wins the maximum number of awards and is adjudged the Best in India

1992

Pragati honoured by the President of India

Pragati is honoured with National Award for Excellence for 1992-93, awarded by the President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma at Rashtrapathi Bhavan, New Delhi.

1996

Move to new facility
